Ryan Scott Posts MSU’s Lone Top 10 on Last Day of NCAA West Regional

Montana State Nordic standout Ryan Scott posted Montana State’s only top 10 finish on the final day of the RMISA/NCAA West Region Ski Championships, Saturday afternoon.

Scott finished tenth in the men's 20-kilometer classic race covering the course in 1:09.24. Alaska-Anchorage's Lukas Ebner won the event in 1:05.11.
Also recording points for the Bobcats were a pair of 2010 All Americans as Tyler Reinking placed 15th and Bernhard Roenning 16th.
Drew Scott 17th and Luke Bromley 22nd rounded out MSU's top five.
Colorado won the championship with 865.5 points. The Buffaloes were followed by Utah 790, New Mexico 777.5, Denver 749, UAA 747, MSU 615 and Westminster 383.
In women's Nordic action Jessica Yeaton paced the Bobcats finishing 16th overall navigating the 15-kilometer course in 1:00.50. Colorado's Eliska Hajkova won the women's individual title in 56:11.2.
Also scoring for MSU were Casey Kutz 17th and Melina Park 18th.
Ase Carlson 21st, Kate Backstrum 23rd, Rachelle Kanady 27th, Johanna Malle 29th, and Mackenzie Jones 31st, completed MSU's day.
Chris Barber continued his hot streak just missing a top 10 finish in the slalom, placing 11th overall with a two-run clocking of 1:53.92. New Mexico's Petter Brenna won the race in 1:50.67.
Mike Mackie 19th and Ryan McConnell 22nd also produced points for the Bobcats.
Geoff Irwin, who placed 12th in the giant slalom on Friday, finished 24th in the slalom in 1:57.66. Chet Cook and Paul Britvar did not start the second run for MSU.
The women's slalom race was canceled due to weather conditions.
Montana State will compete at the 2011 NCAA Skiing Championships, March 9-12 in Stowe, Vermont.
