Eastern Washington used an 8-0 run in the waning minutes of its game against Montana State to record a 71-64 victory over the Bobcats, Thursday night in Worthington Arena.
Montana State (12-12, 5-6) overcame a 38-29 halftime deficit and took an eight-point advantage with 10:30 remaining in the game following a Sarah Strand field-goal.
Eastern Washington (15-8, 8-2) chipped away at the margin and tied the score at 60-all with 3:07 left. With the score knotted at 62-all at the 1:48 mark, the Eagles received a three-pointer from Kyla Evans, and then converted five-of-six free throws to notch the win.
Montana State went zero-of-five from the field in the final minute.
“I never felt we had everyone on the same page,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “Eastern was more physical in the first half, and we let that happen.
“The positive from the game was coming back and getting a good lead,” Binford added. “However, it slipped through our hands. I thought Erica (Perry) did a nice job, but we have to have others step up as well.”
Perry finished with a game-high 22 points on 10-21 from the floor. She also added five steals and four assists.
Also in double-figure for the Bobcats was Katie Bussey with 10 points.
For the contest, MSU shot 37 percent from the field, but connected on just 15 percent (3-20) from three-point range.
Eastern Washington had four players in double-figures led by Nicole Scott with 13.
The Eagles shot 41 percent for the game and out-rebounded MSU 48-39.
The Bobcats were led under the glass by Strand with 14 boards.
MSU will host Portland State on Saturday night in its final home game of the season.
