Montana State hit just 27 percent in the opening stanza as Denver cruised to an 82-48 win over the Bobcats, Saturday afternoon.

The Montana State women's basketball team connected on just three-of-17 shots in the first 12-minutes against Denver, en route to an 82-48 loss to the Pioneers, Saturday afternoon in Magness Arena.

Denver (6-5) jumped out to an early 12-6 advantage and entered intermission with a sizeable 41-22 lead. Montana State (6-5) hit an icy 28 percent from the floor in the opening period.

“We didn't maintain our composure when our shots weren't falling,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “And, it just got away from us. We'll regroup and move on.”

DU ended the game shooting 51 percent from the field, while MSU finished at 30 percent.

The Bobcats were paced in the loss by junior Beata Bak with 15 points, five rebounds and three blocks. Sarah Strand also hit double-digits with 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks.

Denver outrebounded Montana State 43-28 and had four players in double-figures led by Kaetlyn Murdoch with 18 points.

Montana State will play at Portland on Monday night.
