MSU Opens Indoor Track Season

Montana State's throwers opened the 2005 indoor track season in splashy fashion Friday night, winning three of the four collegiate throwing events at the Montana State Open in Worthington Arena.
Lynn Craver's winning mark of 56-4 in the women's weight throw was the seventh-best mark in school history and the best mark in the Big Sky so far this season, while Carra Greyn finished second with 54-10.75, the eighth best throw in school history. Greyn's second-place shot put toss of 45-10.5 was the seventh-best throw in school history. Jesse Allen won the men's shot put with a mark of 53-6.25.
"(Assistant coach) Mike Carignan's throwers really came out of the gates on fire," said MSU coach Dale Kennedy, "and I thought overall it was a good meet. I saw a lot of positive signs for a season-opening meet."
Thomas Seely won the men's pole vault with a mark of 16-0. That vault is tied for 10th-best in MSU history, and the best mark in the Big Sky this season.
Montana State hosts the annual Bobcat-Grizzly dual next Friday night in Worthington Arena.
