“We’re excited to have a person of Lisa’s (Mimick) ability coming into our program,” said Malauulu, who will begin her second season at MSU this fall. “She has played and excelled both on and off the court at the highest level, and I know that she’ll bring that experience to our program.”
Last fall, Mimick served as first assistant at Southwest Minnesota where she helped guide the Mustangs to a 20-11 overall mark and a third place finish in the Northern Sun Conference. At SMSU, she assisted in all aspects of the volleyball program, including; practice and match strategies, recruiting, budget management, scheduling, video exchange, conditioning, academics, fund-raising and camps.
During the 2002 season, the native of Spencer, Neb. served as a student assistant coach at Kansas State. KSU finished the year with a 20-11 record and a second place finish in the Big XII Conference. Mimick’s duties with the Wildcats included charting offensive systems during matches, analyzing and scouting opponent systems, assisting with team development and helping host the NCAA Volleyball Tournament First and Second Rounds.
“I feel fortunate to be given the opportunity to become part of the competitive program at Montana State University,” Mimick said. “I’m excited to get in the gym with the student-athletes, as well as with two outstanding coaches like Miya and Jerry (Wagner).”
As a four-year starter and team captain at Kansas State, Mimick garnered All-Big XII Conference First-Team accolades in 2001. In addition, she was a three-time All-Big XII Conference First-Team Academic selection. As a junior, she had one of the best performances of her career against No. 1 Nebraska with a season-high 21 kills and 29 digs to lead KSU past the Cornhuskers.
Mimick prepped at Spencer-Naper High School in Nebraska where she was an all-state and all-conference performer in volleyball, basketball and track.
A 2003 graduate of Kansas State with a degree in elementary education, family sciences and health services, Mimick has a strong pedigree in coaching. Her father, Bill, and sister, Amy, are currently coaching in the Nebraska High School ranks.
She will begin her duties at Montana State University on July 1. Mimick replaces former MSU standout and assistant Cori Carper, who left the Bobcat program to pursue job opportunities on the east coast.
