Harlowton's Wylie Galt, one of the top prep track performers in Montana, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Montana State track and field program next fall.
Galt won the Class C high jump title last spring with a best jump of 6' 6", the top mark at that meet among athletes from all classes. He was also third in the 110 meter hurdles, and second in the 4 x 100 relay. In 2002, he finished second in the state C high jump.
"Wylie can come in and help us right away," said MSU jumps coach Tom Eitel. "He will really fill a void for us in the high jump, with Cyril Burguiere and Travis Handl graduating. He's such a good athlete, he'll help us in a number of areas."
MSU has benefited from the efforts of several Harlowton athletes in recent years. Erin Jones, Ashley Jones, and Amy Jones are each currently members of the Bobcat track squad. Zach Jones was a Big Sky Champion for the Bobcats, as well. "Harlowton has a great track and field program," Eitel said. "Wylie will train in the decathlon and high jump, and he'll probably pick up another event or two."
