Patrick Kosena joined Bobcat Athletics as Associate Athletic Director, Development in October 2025. In this role, Kosena has a focus on fundraising for major gifts that support student-athlete revenue sharing efforts as well as other fundraising campaigns.
Kosena came to Montana State from the United States Air Force Academy where he worked as the Assistant Athletic Director, Leadership Giving. At the Academy, Kosena assisted in the management of the Falcon Athletic Fund and oversaw the athletic department's major giving strategy. Kosena also oversaw the launch and day-to-day management of the Falcon Athletic Fund's major giving society, the Thin Air Society. Launching shortly after his arrival in the spring of 2023, the Thin Air Society quickly and consistently grew to 129 members and over $5.5 million pledged to Falcon Athletics' 27 IC programs and 1,000+ cadet-athletes before his departure for Bozeman.
Prior to the Air Force Academy, Kosena worked as a Donor Experience Officer at Boise State University. In this role, he paired philanthropic goals of alumni, donors and stakeholders with opportunities at Boise State that directly impacted and supported Bronco student-athletes. Kosena played an important role in the growth of Boise State’s Lyle Smith Society, the premier leadership giving society to support Boise State Athletics.
A native of Missoula, Mont., Kosena earned his bachelor's degree in Business and Sport Management from Carroll College (Helena, Mont.) in 2018, where he was a football student-athlete under one of college football's most successful coaches, Mike Van Diest. He earned his master's degree in Athletic Administration from the University of Nebraska in 2021, where he worked for and learned from former Husker Athletic Director, Bill Moos.
