Montana State (Career) Finished his Bobcat career with 33 quarterback wins, second-most in school history, 43 rushing touchdowns (2nd), 3,523 rushing yards (2nd), 5,810 passing yards (5th), and 53 passing touchdowns (5th). (2024) Stats Perform Walter Payton FCS Offensive Player of the Year, Walter Camp FCS Player of the Year and FCS ADA Offensive Player of the Year... named First Team All-America by every selecting organization... Big Sky Offensive MVP and 1st Team All-Big Sky... 2nd in the FCS in passing efficiency (177.7), 5th in passing touchdowns (31), 1st in points responsible for (278), 5th in points responsible for per game (17.4), 11th in completion percentage (11th), 17th in passing yards (2,759), 11th in rushing touchdowns (15)... preseason Big Sky MVP and All-America. (2021) From the season’s first play, when he lined up on kick return for the Bobcats, until he left the National Championship game with an injury on the game’s first drive, Mellott had one of the most remarkable freshman seasons in Bobcat history... his first career start was the home playoff win against UT Martin, and he started all four playoff games... the first Bobcat quarterback to make his starting debut in the post-season... his 716 rushing yards is third-most by a Bobcat freshman, and he did so in 25 fewer carries than Chris Murray in 2016 (860 yards) and 83 less than Isaiah Ifanse in 2018 (1,025 yards)... rushed for 180 yards vs. UTM... scored three touchdowns against Idaho, in the first 16 minutes of MSU’s playoff road win against Sam Houston he had caught, thrown for, and rushed for a touchdown. (2020) Spent the Covid season at MSU.
High School Earned Class AA Offensive MVP honors as a senior in 2019 after leading Butte High to the state title game... threw for 7,89 yards for the Bulldogs, including 2,940 as a senior... 30 touchdowns and four interceptions in 2019... rushed for 1,217 yards as a senior, 20,499 yards in his career... highly active in the Butte community... played for former Bobcat star Arie Grey at Butte High.
