SPORTS WAGERING
NCAA rules strictly prohibit student-athletes and athletics department staff members from sports wagering on ANY intercollegiate, amateur, or professional athletics contests in which the NCAA conducts a championship in that sport. Sports wagering is any situation in which an individual agrees to give up any item of tangible value (e.g. cash, clothes, dinner, etc) in exchange for the possibility of gaining/winning another item of value based on the outcome of an athletics event. Any type of betting “pool” (e.g., March Madness, Super Bowl), including office pools and pools organized by family, friends, neighbors, etc. for cash or other prizes is impermissible. In addition, the sports wagering prohibitions include paid Fantasy Leagues, daily fantasy sports, or anything with involving a bookmaker ("bookie") or parlay card.
