Recruiting Information for Prospects
Recruiting Periods
NCAA coaches are limited in when and how they are allowed to recruit prospective student-athletes (prospects). Recruiting periods differ among sports, but they all share the same basic restrictions. With regard to recruiting materials (i.e., letters, emails, etc.), phone calls, and contact with coaches, please keep in mind that coaches are limited by NCAA rules. A prospect may always contact a coach, but coaches may only respond when the rules allow them to do so.
Each sport is subject to a recruiting calendar. The recruiting calendars dictate when, how, and whom the coaches may recruit. You can find more your sport's recruiting calendars here.
Recruiting Materials
Recruiting materials are similar to recruiting periods in that certain items are not allowed before June 15 after a prospect's sophomore year in high school (September 1 at the beginning of a prospect's junior year in high school for Football and Women's Basketball). These items include general correspondence (such as letters), electronic correspondence (such as emails, texts, direct messages), business cards, media guides, pre-enrollment information, institutional note cards, and institutional post cards. Prospects may always receive camp brochures, questionnaires, NCAA educational information, and non-athletic institutional publications.
