McGhee and Schreibeis Nominated for Highest Awards

DeNarius McGhee and Caleb Shreibeis are having banner seasons as two of the on-field leaders of Bobcat Football. Both have been nominated for major post-season awards by the Sports Network, with McGhee picking up a nomination for the Walter Payton Award and Shreibeis for the Buck Buchanan Award.
The Walter Payton Trophy, given to the top offensive player in the FCS, while the Buck Buchanan Award recognizes the top defensive player. Coordinated by The Sports Network, voting by media, FCS sports information directors, and other dignitaries, begins next Monday, Nov. 19, following the regular season's end, and continues through the end of the week.
McGhee By The Numbers...
* 28 Career Wins as MSU’s starting QB – School Record
* Big Sky Championships as starter in 2010, 2011
* 2,479 2012 passing yards, 21-to-8 TD-to-Int ratio
* 8,441 career passing yards
From The Sports Network-
On McGhee: "A Walter Payton Award finalist in each of his first two seasons, McGhee finished 13th in last year's voting. Lauded by his coaches for his leadership and attention to detail, McGhee headlines the big group of Texans who have migrated north to the Montana State program. He has helped the Bobcats win two straight Big Sky Conference titles while throwing for 5,962 yards and 47 touchdowns with a passing efficiency rating over 150. As a redshirt freshman, McGhee shared the Big Sky Offensive MVP award with Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones. He has an active style in which he moves around the pocket until he can make a big play."
Schreibeis By The Numbers...
* 7 Forced Fumbles in 2012 – 1st in FCS and School Record
* 11 Sacks in 2012 – 1st in Big Sky, 4th in FCS
* 2012 CoSIDA Academic All-District 7
From The Sports Network-
On Schreibeis: "Schreibeis had always been a solid contributor on the talented Montana State defensive line. But this year, as a team captain, not only has he made his brother Joe, a former MSU captain, proud, but he's also taken his play to the next level. With his team dealing with many injuries, the senior has helped hold the defense together, registering 13 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, seven quarterback hurries and seven forced fumbles - all team highs - through the Bobcats' first 10 games (he missed one game). Schreibeis has helped the MSU defense lead the Big Sky in rushing defense (89 yards per game) and total defense (305 yards per game), while opponents have had nightmares on third down, converting just 26.8 percent of the time. He ranks fourth in the FCS, averaging 1.06 sacks per game and his seven forced fumbles rank first in the FCS."
