About Cat Dancers
Montana State University’s Cat Dancers are composed of 10-16 athletes. The team performs at all home football, volleyball and basketball games. The team will travel to a limited number of away basketball matches such as Cat-Griz or post-season events.
The dance program at MSU performs a variety of styles including pom, jazz and hiphop. All members of the dance team have former training either on a high school team, college or studio team. The MSU Dance Team’s goal is to create and promote school support and interest in athletics, assist in increased enrollment, develop high team standards and provide quality entertainment.
It should be understood that each team member is a student-athlete; student first, athlete second. Each student-athlete should give priority to his or her education, discipline and responsibility to his or her team 100% of the time.
Practices are three days per week for two to three hours, in addition to games. All members are in the weight room with a strength coach two days per week. Dancers may receive up to two elective credits.
The Cat Dancers may attend camps and competition. Choreographers are hired to work with the team on perfecting skills and choreography.
