About Cheer Squad
Montana State University’s Cheer Squad is composed of 10-20 male and female athletes. The squad cheers at all home football, volleyball and basketball games. The team will travel to a limited number of away matches such as Cat-Griz or post-season events. All members of the cheer squad have experience either on a high school, college or all-star team.
The MSU Cheer Squad’s goal is to create and promote school support and interest in athletics, assist in increased enrollment, develop high team standards and provide quality entertainment.
It should be understood that each team member is a student-athlete; student first, athlete second. Each student-athlete should give priority to his or her education, discipline and responsibility to his or her team 100% of the time.
Practices are three days per week for two to three hours, in addition to games. All members are in the weight room with a strength coach two days per week. Cheerleaders may receive up to two elective credits.
MSU’s cheer program has access to cheerleading mats during practices and games. Athletes have access to an athletic trainer at all times. The Cheer Squad may attend camps and competitions provided funding is available and if the coach feel the team is prepared.
The team also makes several appearances in the community throughout the year and is involved in community service. We are committed to being positive role models.
