Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Idaho State Invitational

CHUBBUCK, Idaho - Montana State head women's tennis coach Hailey Barrett kicks off her second season at the helm of the program as the Bobcats take part in the Idaho State Invitational – a three-day tournament hosted by the Bengals at Capell Park beginning Friday, Sept. 18. In a preview of Big Sky Conference action, the Bobcats will match up against players from Montana, Utah Tech, and the tournament hosts.
"We are really looking forward to seeing this new team compete," Barrett said. "The first few weeks of practice have been very productive, and this tournament will provide an opportunity to play some tough conference opponents. With four returners and five newcomers, we are excited to see what this team can do."
The Bobcats return four players who saw action last season. Angel Bean returns as MSU's most experienced player after being named a first-team all-conference singles selection and a second-team doubles honoree. Lola Bean, Elle Middleton, and Terezie Stverakova all enter their second season with the Cats, bringing experience and competition to the Bobcat lineup. Barrett also welcomes five newcomers: freshmen Lola House, Naomi Jin, and Mia Tombari, as well as a pair of transfers in junior Claire Brown and fifth-year Stela Sifuentes.

Eight Bobcats will compete in the dominant duo format tournament, where teams will compete as doubles before splitting up for singles play.

The Idaho State Invitational marks the first of five fall contests for the Bobcats, who will make their next stop at the Big Sky Individual Championships in Ogden, Utah. After the ITA Mountain Regionals in Provo, the Cats will return to campus for a pair of home tournaments at the Bobcat Invitational from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 and the Bozeman UTR Tournament from Nov. 5 to Nov. 7.
