Sydney Brewster Finishes 12th in Shot Put at NCAA Indoor Championships, Named Second-Team All-American

Brewster takes home second All-America honor of the weekend for Montana State
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- Montana State shot putter Sydney Brewster took 12th place at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, earning Second-Team All-America honors for her performance at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
Brewster was named an All-American in her first-ever NCAA Championships appearance, recording a top mark of 16.96 meters/55 feet, 7.75 inches on her second throw. Her performance caps off an impressive season featuring seven shot put victories, four school records, one Big Sky record, and a Second-Team All-America honor. Brewster joins Coey as the second Bobcat this weekend to be named Second-Team All-American after Coey placed 11th in the long jump on Friday.

Saturday's action concludes the indoor track & field season for the Bobcats. Montana State will open its outdoor season at the Cat-Griz Dual/Al Manuel Invitational on March 27-28 on the campus of the University of Montana.

"We are so proud of Sydney and Hailey for amazing indoor seasons," Dale Kennedy Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lyle Weese said. "It was fun watching them compete at one of the highest-level track & field meets in the world. Coach Jen Allen and Coach Olivia Lane have done such an amazing job of guiding these student-athletes. We are excited about what is to come from Sydney and Hailey, as well as the entire throws and jumps event groups and the rest of the track & field team."
Brewster opened her day with a mark of 15.72m/51-7 on her first attempt before recording her top throw of 16.96m/55-7.75 on her second try. She posted a 15.97m/52-4.75 on her third and final attempt to secure 12thplace at her first NCAA Indoor Championships.Full results from the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships are available here.
