Eiden IV nominated for prestigious National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Awards
BOZEMAN, Mont. (Sept. 24, 2025) – Kenneth Eiden IV, Montana State's standout defensive end, was selected as a semifinalist for the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy presented by the National Football Foundation.
Eiden IV, an all-conference selection a year ago whose season-closing string of seven straight games with at least a half-sack helped pace the Bobcats to the FCS Championship Game, is one of 178 semifinalists including 44 nominees from the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). He was named Preseason All-America and All-Big Sky this summer.
Eiden IV is the latest of a strong lineage of Bobcats associated with the Campbell Trophy, known as the "academic Heisman Trophy." He graduates this December with an accounting degree, and has carried a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 during his college career. A second generation Bobcat – his father Ken played guard for the Cats – and 2025 team captain, Eiden IV looks to become MSU's third finalist in the last five years.
Troy Andersen in 2021 and Brody Grebe last year are MSU's most recent Campbell Trophy finalists. Launched in 1959, the NFF National Scholar-Athlete Awards Presented by Fidelity Investments celebrate their 67th year in 2025. The awards were the first initiative in history to grant postgraduate scholarships based on both a player's academic and athletic accomplishments, and the NFF has recognized 938 outstanding individuals since the program's inception. This year's postgraduate scholarships will push the program's all-time distribution to more than $13.2 million.
The Campbell Trophy® was first awarded in 1990 and recipients include two Rhodes Scholars, a Rhodes Scholar finalist, two Heisman Trophy winners and nine first-round NFL draft picks. Named in honor of the late Bill Campbell, the trophy has been prominently displayed inside its official home at the New York Athletic Club since 2013, and the winner is honored each year during a special luncheon at the storied venue.
