Former Bowling Green standout brings experience to MSU football staff
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State head football coach Brent Vigen officially named Trenton Greene, most recently of Missouri Southern State, as Bobcats cornerbacks coach on Monday.
Greene worked as safeties coach for the NCAA Division II Lions in 2024 after spending 2023 as a defensive analyst at Arizona State. He filled that role at Washington State in 2022, worked in defensive quality control at Nevada in 2021, and was a defensive graduate assistant at Syracuse working with linebackers from 2017-19. His appointment is pending completion of his background check.
"We're excited to add Trenton Greene and complete our defensive staff," Vigen said. "He has worked in multiple FBS programs that run a similar defensive system and also gained valuable experience this past year at Missouri Southern leading the defensive backs. He brings an energy level and knowledge base that will allow him to be a key member of our staff as a defensive coach, special teams contributor and recruiter."
Greene played at Bowling Green in 2012, and again in 2015-16, earning Second Team All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) honors at linebacker as a junior and senior and serving as team captain in 2016. His team-high 111 tackles in 2016 ranked fourth in the MAC and 28th nationally. He had 8.5 tackles-for-loss and four sacks that season, and finished his career with 248 total tackles. He recorded 127 tackles in 2015, helping the Falcons to the MAC title. He earned first team all-state honors at Monsignor Edwards Pace High School in Miami as a senior, when he led Dade County in tackles, and was a two-time team captain.
Originally from Miami Gardens, Florida, Greene graduated from Bowling Green in 2016 with a degree in Liberal Studies, and received his master's from Syracuse in Instructional Design, Development, and Implementation. Greene and MSU safeties coach/pass game coordinator Bryan Shepherd worked together at Syracuse in 2018-19.
