The Montana State women's tennis squad travels to a familiar destination for a pair of non-conference matches this weekend in Grand Forks, N.D. The Bobcats face former Big Sky rival North Dakota, Friday at 1 p.m. (MT), before concluding play against Northern Iowa, Saturday at 8 a.m. (MT).
"We're excited to compete against two very good programs," said MSU head coach Suzie Woodburn. "Overcoming the home court advantage is always a challenge, but we're ready to roll. We need to trust our tennis, compete hard, and have fun."
Montana State enters the contest with UND on a two-match winning streak and a 3-3 record. Senior Marta Garcia-Reboredo has paced the Bobcats in the early season registering a 4-1 mark at No. 1 singles, as well as a 3-2 ledger combining with Hudson Hawkins at No. 2 doubles. The MSU ladder got a boost with the addition of Nia Gelashvili. The freshman from Tbilisi, Georgia garnered Big Sky Player of the Week honors for victories at No. 3 singles against Utah State and South Dakota.
North Dakota is 4-1 overall. Junior Andrea Pineda has a 3-0 mark for the Fighting Hawks at the top spot on the ladder. Northern Iowa is 1-5 on the season, with its lone victory coming in a 4-3 decision over Gustavus Adolphus.
