The two also become part of a group of 10 nominees for two $5,000 post-graduate scholarships presented by the organization, Grebe for the second time. Grebe completed his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering last spring, while Mellott finished his financial engineering degree in December. Crews played in all 16 games with 25 tackles, 4.5 for a loss. Eiden IV earned honorable mention all-league honors with 32 tackles, 10.5 for a loss, and nine sacks. Fleischmann (2nd Team All-Big Sky) and Wehr (1st Team All-America) each started all 16 games and helped MSU's offensive line finish second in the FCS in rushing yards and third in fewest sacks allowed. Hall was the best FCS specialist at limiting opponent returns over the past two seasons, allowing only 10 punt returns and 15 kickoff returns as a senior.
To qualify for academic all-district honors, players must attain a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) as a starter or important reserve after completing at least one semester at his current school. Five of the players – Fleischmann, Grebe, Hall, Mellott and Wehr – advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which is announced on January 28. Grebe and Mellott cap their Montana State careers as two of the most-decorated student-athletes in program history. Grebe was a First Team CSC Academic All-America as a junior, and this season was named one of the top 16 student-athletes at all levels of four-year college football by becoming a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete. He and Mellott each earned First Team All-America honors as players this season, with Mellott becoming the first Bobcat named national offensive player of the year (he was so honored by FCS ADA, Walter Camp, and Stats Perform Walter Payton Award).
