Eastern trek launches busy summer for Bobcat Club
BOZEMAN, Montana – Covering just over 1,000 miles in 80 hours, Bobcat Athletics representatives trekked throughout eastern Montana in mid-May to spread Blue & Gold goodwill and raise awareness and funds for the Bobcat Club.
"Bobcat fans in eastern Montana are some of the most loyal in all of college sports," said MSU Director of Athletics Leon Costello. "Their commitment to our student-athletes and coaches, and to Montana State University, is amazing. They travel so many miles to support us that it's a pleasure to visit them in their home territory and help them to connect to the Bobcats."
In addition to several members of the Bobcat Athletics administration and staff, MSU head coaches Brent Vigen (football), Brittany Basye (golf), Tricia Binford (women's basketball), Matt Houk (volleyball), and Matt Logie (men's basketball) also made the tour. Sites including The Miles City Club, the Gust Hauf in Glendive, Cousins Family Restaurant in Plentywood, the Cottonwood Hotel in Glasgow, and the Elks-Pine Meadows in Lewistown each hosted "strong and enthusiastic turnouts," Costello said.
"It's enjoyable and important for us to visit eastern Montana," Vigen said. "Not only are our fans in that region tremendous, but it's also an area that produces so many student-athletes. The interest in the Bobcats in that part of the state is tremendous."
Bobcat Athletics representatives travel throughout the state during the spring and summer months, Costello said, but the eastern tour "really kicks that off and the enthusiasm generates great momentum for the summer that we carry right into the fall sports seasons."
