Montana State standouts Kristiane Bekkestad and Gianluca Boehm each garnered Second Team All-America honors in slalom at the 71st NCAA Skiing Championships on Friday night at Howelsen Hill.
Montana State standouts Kristiane Bekkestad and Gianluca Boehm each garnered Second Team All-America honors in slalom at the 71st NCAA Skiing Championships on Friday night at Howelsen Hill.
Bekkestad, who earned Second Team All-America honors in giant slalom on Wednesday, posted a two-run slalom time of1:26.21. She was 16th after the first run and recorded the seventh best second run to move up nine spots in the final standings securing a top 10 position.
Teammate Justine Lamontagne used the second fastest second run (42.52) to move up ten spots finishing 16th in a clocking of 1:26.80. Colorado's Magdalena Luczak won the slalom title in 1:25.43.
Boehm also captured Second Team All-America honors in giant slalom on Wednesday and followed with two consistent runs to place ninth in slalom with a time of 1:20.36. Isak Staurset also added to MSU's point total finishing 25th in 1:31.36,
CU's Filip Wahlqvist won the event in 1:19.38.
Four-time defending NCAA champion Utah remained atop the team standings with 444.5 points, followed in the top five by Denver 401, CU 393.5, Dartmouth 278, and MSU 251.
The NCAA championships conclude on Saturday with the 20km classic races.
