Baangman Captures Denver Invite 10K Classic Title

The win was Baangman’s second of the season after capturing the 10K classic title at the Westminster Invite to open the season
Montana State sophomore Tilde Baangman used a dominating performance opening a sizeable lead over the final two laps of the women's 10K classic race at Maloit Park to win the event on the third day of the Denver Invitational, Friday morning.
Baangman, a product of Oestersund, Sweden won the race in 29:41.3, placing ahead of Colorado's Hanna Abrahamson, who clocked 30:05.0. MSU junior Kate Oldham also recorded a top 10 finish placing eighth in 31:33.2. Katey Houser completed scoring for the Bobcats finishing 21st in 32:52.9.
The win was Baangman's second of the season after capturing the 10K classic title at the Westminster Invite to open the season. In all, she's reached the podium on six occasions, and has finished no worse than sixth place in her eight races to date on the RMISA circuit.
Also, competing for the Bobcats on Friday were Lily Murnane, 24th, 33:20.0, and Helen Wilson, 29th, 36:18.9.
Fredrik Nilsen posted the MSU men's top showing placing fourth in 26:24.5. The top 5 finish was Nilsen's best of the season. Also, producing points for the Bobcats were Florian Winker, ninth, 26:52.6, and Kai Meyers, 11th, 27.03.8.
Phineas Fischer, 12th, 27:05.2, Gavin Galyardt, 16th, 27:54.4, and Joel Power, 20th, 28:55.7, also posted times for MSU.
Denver's Andreas Kirkeng won the event in 25:56.5.
With just the Nordic freestyle races remaining, DU leads the team scoring with 482 points, followed by CU 458, Utah 452, Alaska Anchorage 361, MSU 340½, Westminster 241½, Nevada 118, Colorado Mountain 116, Alaska Fairbanks, 100, and Wyoming 62.
