Bobcat Skiers Sixth at Denver Invitational

The Montana State ski team sits in sixth place at the midway point of the Denver Invitational following Tuesday’s slalom races.
The Montana State ski team sits in sixth place at the midway point of the Denver Invitational following Tuesday's slalom races. The Nordic portion of the DU Invite takes place Friday and Saturday at Minturn, Colo.
A pair of slalom races highlighted the first two days of the invite. MSU's top showing came on Monday as senior Jamie Casselman finished ninth with a two-run total of 1:38.18. Casselman was unable to complete his first run during Tuesday's slalom event.
Dawson Yates, 13th, 1:37.68, Henry Heaydon, 15th, 1:37.99, and Isak Staurset, 24th, 1:40.94 were the only Bobcat men to produce points on Tuesday. On Monday, the MSU men were led by Casselman, Yates, 11th, 1:38.52, and Gianluca Boehm, 20th, 1:39.00.
Justine Lamontagne had MSU's top finish placing 12th with a two-run total of 1:41.64 on Tuesday afternoon. She was followed by Kristiane Bekkestad, 19th, 1:42.47, and Brynne Hitchcock, 22nd, 1:42.71.
Hitchcock, a senior from Park City, Utah, paced the Bobcats on Monday finishing 20th in 1:41.45. Also, producing points were Ylva Falksete, 23rd, 1:41.55, and Nellie Talbot, 24th, 1:42.17.
Four-time defending national champion Utah sits atop the team standings with 350 points. The Utes are followed by DU 327, Colorado 288, Westminster 241½, Alaska Anchorage 225, MSU 188½, Nevada 118, and Colorado Mountain 116.
