Perkins Paces Cats in RMISA Giant Slalom Qualifier

Perkins posted a two-run total of 1:53.86, with his 54.28 second go the best of the day.
Montana State sophomore Tanner Perkins unleashed the fastest time in the second run to finish third at the RMISA Giant Slalom Qualifier- a precursor to the conference championships- on Thursday afternoon at Big Sky Resort.
The qualifiers do not count in team scores but do give individual racers points towards NCAA qualification.
Perkins posted a two-run total of 1:53.86, with his 54.28 second go the best of the day. Utah's Mikkel Solbakken won the event in 1:53.25.
Other MSU finishers included Gianluca Boehm, eighth, 1:54.34, Jamie Casselman, 14th, 1:54.66, Isak Staurset, 21st, 1:55.05, and Henry Heaydon, 33rd, 1:56.37.
The Bobcat women were led by Kristiane Bekkestad who placed seventh in 1:58.34. Denver's Sara Rask won the race in 1:56.25.
Lana Zbasnik, 14th, 1:59.15, Justine Lamontagne, 16th, 1:59.53, Ylva Falksete, 17th, 1:59.78, Nellie Talbot, 23rd, 2:00.98, and Brynne Hitchcock, 32nd, 2:03.09 all posted times for MSU.
The RMISA Championships open with giant slalom Friday, and slalom Saturday at Big Sky, while the Nordic events get underway on Saturday at 11 a.m. (7.5km Freestyle) and conclude Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. (20km Classic) at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center.
