Montana State University welcomed 11 newcomers to the Bobcat Athletics staff during the summer and fall, including six MSU graduates.
Montana State University welcomed 11 newcomers to the Bobcat Athletics staff during the summer and fall, including six MSU graduates. Bio capsules of each are below:
HALEY (BASYE) CAMPBELL, Academic Coordinator
Bozeman native Haley Campbell joins MSU Athletics' Academic Services staff specializing in assisting incoming student-athletes. After two years at Grand Canyon University, she graduated from MSU with highest honors in fall 2020 with a BS in Elementary Education. Campbell earned her special education endorsement from MSU Billings in 2021 and taught at Bozeman High (2021) and Gallatin High (2021-24).
SAM BENZING, Assistant Nordic Ski Coach
Benzing joins the Bobcat ski program after serving one season as The Paul J. Finnegan Family Head Coach at Harvard, where she led all facets of the men's and women's Nordic programs; including leading senior Rémi Drolet to two FIS Cross Country world cup starts and an All-American finish at the 2024 NCAA Championship. Prior to her stint in Cambridge, Mass., she was an assistant at St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn., from 2021-23. During the 2023 season, Benzing was a Women's Sports Foundation Tara VanDerveer Fund for the Advancement of Women in Coaching Fellow. This fellowship took her to the FIS cross-country world cup where she assisted as a tech and coach for the U.S. Ski Team. In fall of 2023 Benzing coached the National Training Group camp in Park City, UT at the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Center of Excellence. As a student-athlete at St. Scholastica she captained the squad during the 2020 and 2021 campaigns. Benzing earned a Master of Arts degree in psychological sciences-clinical counseling track from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2023. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Saint Scholastica, 2021.
SARAH BOWMAN, Assistant Athletic Trainer for Football
A 2018 North Carolina State graduate in Sport Management with a Sports Science minor, Sarah Bowman works with the Bobcat football program. She earned her MS in Athletic Training from Shenandoah University in 2020. She has worked as an athletic trainer at Radford (2020-21), Johns Hopkins (2021-22) and Appalachian State (2022-23) before working as an ATC at App Ortho in Boone, North Carolina, in 2023-24.
BRIAN COBLE, Director of Sports Medicine/Head Football Athletic Trainer
No stranger to the Treasure State, Brian Coble is in his first season as Director of Sports Medicine and Head Football Athletic Trainer. He came to MSU after three years as a Provider Network Representative for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana in Helena. Coble earned his BS in Exercise Physiology, and Physical Education from the College of Charleston, his MS in Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA from South Carolina, Aiken. From 2004-19 he worked as Director of Athletic Training at Carroll College in Helena, serving as primary AT for football, and women's basketball. He was also a health sciences professor. From 2019-21 he worked as Head Athletic Trainer at Chapin (South Carolina) High School.
B.T. COOPER, Bobcat Athletics Sport Psychologist
Dr. B.T. Cooper brings nearly two decades of clinical, professional and academic experience to his role as Sport Psychologist embedded in Bobcat Athletics. He holds degrees from Ohio State (BA, Psychology, Criminology, 2010), Cincinnati (MS, Criminal Justice, 2012), and Florida State (MS, Sport Psychology, 2017, and PhD, Counseling and School Psychology, 2022). He provided performance consultation with a variety of teams at Florida State, taught and lectured in several courses at FSU, and has extensive research experience.
CAITLIN FOGUE, Assistant Strength Coach
A former softball student-athlete at Missouri and Ohio, Caitlin Fogue joins the Bobcat strength and conditioning staff as the primary strength coach for the cross country, alpine and Nordic ski, women's tennis, and rodeo programs. She previously worked as a graduate assistant at Ohio University with the football program and as an Olympic Strength and Conditioning coach. She also worked as a strength coach in the private sector from 2015-22. Fogue played softball at Missouri in 2018-19, and at Ohio from 2019-22. While at Ohio she set an NCAA record with two grand slams in a single game and earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2022. She earned her BA (Specialized Studies in Applied Business Communication and Marketing, 2022) and MS (Recreation and Sport Science, 2024) at Ohio.
HOLOAKEA HUSEN, Director of Marketing
Holoakea Husen returns to his alma mater after working as Director of Digital Media for Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon (2023-24) and as Production Manager for the Glacier Range Riders in Kalispell (summer, 2023). He graduated from MSU in 2023 in business marketing and interned in marketing with Bobcat Athletics in 2022-23. He also worked for Karst Stage in Bozeman (2017-23) as a driver, maintenance coordinator and operations assistant.
JUSTIN JESSOP, Director of Equipment Operations for Football
A familiar figure around Bobcat Athletics, Justin Jessop returns as Director of Equipment Operations for Football. A former MSU track and field student-athlete (2002-04) was twice the department's interim equipment manager (2010-11, 2017) while serving as the assistant equipment manager. He also worked as an equipment intern with the San Diego Chargers (2009). He has also coached high school and middle school football and track and field throughout the last two decades. From 2018-24, Jessop worked as Montana Sales Representative for sports equipment manufacturer Riddell.
SHIANN KRAMER, Director of Nutrition
After serving as a graduate assistant and interim director of nutrition at MSU, Shiann Kramer becomes Bobcat Athletics' Director of Nutrition. She oversees the department's nutrition programs, managing those efforts for football, men's basketball, women's basketball, cross country, Nordic ski, alpine ski, and cross country. From 2022-24 she ran the Fieldhouse Fueling Station and provided nutrition education, individual consultations, and coordinated travel and game day meals. She worked as a sports nutrition volunteer at East Carolina (2022), and as an intern at Kansas State (2018-21), earning a BS in Dietetics and a BS in Nutrition and Health at Kansas State in 2021, and is completing her MS in Exercise Science and Nutrition at MSU.
KAYLA McGEARTY-ANDERSON, Academic Coordinator
An Honors graduate from Montana State with a degree in English (2015), Kayla McGearty-Anderson joins Bobcat Athletics as an Academic Coordinator. McGearty-Anderson completed her MA in Reading with an Emphasis in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon. She taught English at Helena High (2016-18), Bozeman High (2018-21) and Gallatin High (2021-24) before returning to MSU. McGearty-Anderson has volunteered in several capacities over the past decade.
BRIAN MORSE, Director of Athletics Graphic Design & Photography
A 2016 MSU graduate in marketing, Brian Morse returns to Montana State as Director of Athletics Graphic Design and Photography. As a Bobcat undergraduate, and for two years following graduation, he produced photo, video and graphic design content for MSU Athletics. He worked as a multimedia designer for the University of Washington women's basketball program (2018-21) and as associate director of digital content (2021-24) at Eastside Catholic School in Seattle.
