Boehm Finishes Runner Up at Utah Invitational in Slalom

The Bobcat men’s contingent notched the highest point output of the event as Dawson Yates (1:30.46) and Henry Heaydon (1:31.03) placed ninth and 14th, respectively. MSU finished with 76 points, three ahead of the Utah men.
Montana State sophomore Gianluca Boehm led the Montana State alpine squad in its first event at the Utah Invitational, placing second in slalom with two consistent runs to record a clocking of 1:29.47 on Thursday afternoon at Olympic Park.
The Bobcat men's contingent notched the highest point output of the event as Dawson Yates (1:30.46) and Henry Heaydon (1:31.03) placed ninth and 14th, respectively. MSU finished with 76 points, three ahead of the Utah men.
Isak Staurset was the only other Bobcat to get in two successful races, finishing 33rd in 1:37.58. Jamie Casselman and Luc Dalton did not finish their first runs, while Tanner Perkins was unable to complete his second race of the day.
Colorado's Filip Wahlqvist won his second consecutive slalom title in 1:27.52.
The Bobcat women had another impressive performance in slalom with two racers in the top six. Kristiane Bekkestad finished third with a two-run total of 1:33.23. Her first run (48.21) was the fourth fastest of the heat. Justine Lamontagne placed sixth in 1:34.34, which included the fifth fastest second run (44.82).
Also scoring for MSU was Lana Zbasnik, 16th, 1:36.82. Nellie Talbot, 22nd, 1:37.76, and Brynne Hitchcock, 24th, 1:38.52, also completed two successful runs. Ylva Falksete did not finish her first run.
Utah's Kaja Norbye won the women's slalom in 1:32.75.
As a unit, the Bobcats women racked up 76 points, just two behind Utah.
After six events, Utah sits atop the team standings with 533 points, followed by Denver 416, Colorado 397, MSU 370, Alaska-Anchorage 361, Alaska-Fairbanks 275, Westminster 140, Wyoming 112, Nevada 79, and Colorado Mountain 55.
