Montana State sophomore Tilde Baangman finished sixth in the women’s 7.5k freestyle on the opening day of the Utah Invitational at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center.

Montana State sophomore Tilde Baangman finished sixth in the women's 7.5k freestyle on the opening day of the Utah Invitational at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. The product of Oestersund, Sweden, covered the course in 22:30.4.

Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Katey Houser, 15^th, 23:26.9, and Emma Albrecht, 20^th, 23:48.1.

Alaska-Fairbanks' Kendall Kramer won the event in 21:56.7.

The Montana State women also received contributions from Kate Oldham, 25^th, 24:17.5, Rosie Whittington-Evans, 28^th, 24;24.1, Anna Pryce, 34^th, 25:08.5, Lily Murnane, 36^th, 25:29.4, and Helen Wilson, 38^th, 26:51.9.

Florian Winker led the Bobcat men finishing 15^th overall in a time of 19;45.6. Also placing in MSU's top three were Kai Meyers, 23^rd, 20:19.7, and Fredrik Nilsen, 24^th, 20:20.2.

Utah's Brian Bushey captured the individual freestyle title in 18:48.1.

Other finishers for the Bobcats included Gavin Galyardt, 25^th, 20:26.8, Joel Power, 38^th, 22:07.6, and Phineas Fischer, 39^th, 22:20.1.

After two events Utah sits atop the team standings with 187 points. The Utes are followed by UAF 148, Denver 145, Colorado 143, Alaska-Anchorage 116, MSU 103, and Wyoming 66.

The Nordic classic events are slated for Saturday morning.
