For the second consecutive day, Montana State senior Riley Seger placed fifth in giant slalom.
For the second consecutive day, Montana State senior Riley Seger placed fifth in giant slalom. On Thursday, the product of Vancouver, B.C., Canada paced the Bobcats at the Spencer James Nelson Memorial Colorado Invitational, clocking a two-run total of 1:39.75 at Eldora Mountain Resort.
Seger was joined in the top 10 by Bobcat newcomer Gianluca Boehm, who finished sixth in 1:40.13. Boehm, a native of Samedan, Switzerland, recorded the third fastest second run of the event to move up the ladder and grab 27 points for MSU.
Henry Heaydon completed MSU's scoring finishing 11th in 1:40.48.
Other MSU finishers included Tanner Perkins, 15th, 1:40.80, and Dawson Yates, 26th, 1:42.56. Jamie Casselman, who notched an outstanding first run, did not finish the second, while Isak Staurset went out on the opening run.
Colorado's Filip Forejtek won the giant slalom in 1:38.90.
MSU All-American Kristiane Bekkestad guided the Bobcat women's alpine team placing eighth with a two-run total of 1:47.04. She was followed in scoring by Justine Lamontagne, 21st, 1:48.57, and Tegan Wold, 24th, 1:49.71.
Other Bobcat contributors included Ylva Falksete, 26th, 1:50.04, Brynne Hitchcock, 31st, 1:51.23, and Gabriella Holm, 37th, 1:53.39.
Denver's Sara Rask captured the women's giant slalom title in 1:44.92.
After six events, CU sits atop the team standings with 522 points. The Buffaloes are followed by Utah 474, DU 398, MSU 371, Alaska Anchorage 280, Alaska Fairbanks 231, Nevada 58, Colorado Mountain 51, and Wyoming 30.
The invitational will conclude on Friday afternoon with men's and women's giant slalom.
