Boehm Reaches Podium to Pace Bobcat Skiers at Denver Invitational

Montana State newcomer Gianluca Boehm reached his first collegiate podium placing third in slalom at the Denver Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Loveland Ski Area.

Montana State newcomer Gianluca Boehm reached his first collegiate podium placing third in slalom at the Denver Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Loveland Ski Area.

The product of Samedan, Switzerland, posted a two-run total of 1:31.85. Boehm had a consistent performance, with the third fastest opening run, and the fourth fastest second heat.

Utah's Wilhelm Normannseth won the men's slalom in 1:30.61.

Also scoring points for MSU were Jamie Casselman, 18^th, 1:33.87, and Dawson Yates, 20^th, 1:34.24.

The Bobcat women were led by Kristiane Bekkestad, who finished tenth with a two-run total of 1:32.36. She was closely followed by teammates Justine Lamontagne, 11^th, 1:32.58, and Tegan Wold, 12^th, 1:32.82.

Denver's Sara Rask captured the slalom in 1:30.29.

In Nordic action at Maloit Park, Anna Pryce notched MSU's best finish placing 11^th in the 10k classical event in 39:33.1. She was followed in scoring by Katey Houser, 12^th, 39:55.1, and Emma Albrecht, 17^th, 41:22.1.

Utah's Novie McCabe won the classical race in 36:22.3.

Reed Godfrey guided the Bobcat men finishing 13^th with a time of 33:21.4 over 10k. He was followed by Kai Meyers, 16^th, 33:48.6, and Eli Hermanson, 22^nd, 34:41.5.

Andreas Kirkeng won the race in 31:36.8.

With just the men's and women's slalom races remaining on Sunday, Utah is atop the team standings with 559 points. The Utes are followed by Denver 457, Colorado 413, MSU 343, Alaska Anchorage 326, Alaska Fairbanks 220, Westminster 137, Wyoming 68, Colorado Mountain 67, and Nevada 49.
