Thursday's blood drive supports youngster battline medical condition
BOZEMAN, Montana - The Montana State football program will participate in and help conduct an American Red Cross Blood Drive in honor of seven-year old Troy Ross on Thursday, June 30, in the Strand Union Building on the MSU campus.
The blood drive, from 10 am to 4 pm in SUB Room 221, is in honor of Ross, who battles a rare condition which causes his immune system to create severe respiratory problems by attacking his lungs. The son of a long-time Treasure State prep football coach, Troy Ross served as honorary captain of Montana State's Sonny Holland Classic spring scrimmage in April.
"Getting to know Troy and making him part of our Bobcat family has been really special," said MSU assistant coach Justin Udy, who is helping coordinate Thursday's blood drive. "He is a tough young man, and as part of the football community in this state we all want to help people when we have the opportunity."
Udy indicated that more than 20 players and several coaches plan to participate. Sign-up for appointments on Thursday occur through the Red Cross Blood Donor App or redcrossblood.org, or by calling 1-800-REDCROSS (733-2767), using the sponsor code TROY.
