Mitch Brott started every game of his varsity career at Montana State
Leading to the 2022 season, the 125th anniversary of Montana State's first football team, we will look at 125 of the greatest Bobcats. You can find details here and a directory here.
Mitch Brott, OT, 2016-19
ALL-TIME TEAM: None previously
HONORS: 2nd Team All-America and 1st Team All-Big Sky in 2019, 2nd Team All-Big Sky in 2018
A CLOSER LOOK: Every day. Damn near every snap. Mitch Brott never got too excited, he just never came off the field. Brott started all 50 games of his varsity career at Montana State, serving as team captain as a senior. He was the program's Most Valuable Offensive Lineman in both 2018 and 2019, anchoring a unit that helped MSU finish among the top 10 programs in both rushing and fewest sacks allowed in the FCS in both seasons. During his career, 41 Bobcats rushed for at least 100 yards in a game, a staggering total in four seasons. Brott was a link in the chain of brilliant offensive tackles at Montana State, one that featured All-Americas Brent Swaggert and Jhon Weidenaar and Lewis Kidd, and the a case can be made that he was the strongest link.
FROM FORMER BOBCAT HEAD COACH JEFF CHOATE: "More consecutive starts than anybody in program history shows you what Mitch was all about. If you showed up to watch the Bobcats on a Saturday afternoon from 2016 to 2019 Mitch Brot would be playing tackle. Not only did he show up, he was a dominant player, and I think in his last two years he was one of the best linemen in the country and he's a guy that had the Covid year not happened he might have had an opportunity to play at the next level. His record of consistency and starting every game in his career is a record that might stand for a long time."
