The native Hawaiian was one of MSU's best defensive players in the 1990s
Leading to the 2022 season, the 125th anniversary of Montana State's first football season, we will look at 125 of the greatest Bobcats. You can find details here and a directory here.
Shon Flores, S, 1998-99
ALL-TIME TEAM: None
HONORS: 2nd Team All-America in 1999, 1st Team All-Big Sky in 1998 and 1999
A CLOSER LOOK: One of the finest defensive players during Cliff Hysell's time as Montana State's head coach, Shon Flores became one of Hysell's three two-time First Team All-Big Sky choices on defense (joining Sean Hill and Ty O'Connor). Flores jumped into MSU's defensive lineup after transferring from West Hills College in 1998 and never came out. He started all 22 of his games as a Bobcat, and in those two seasons compiled 218 total tackles, seven for a loss with four sacks, four interceptions, five forced fumbles, three fumbles recovered, and eight pass breakups.
FROM FORMER BOBCAT ASSISTANT COACH GREG SALO: "Shon was a like a linebacker that played safety. He was very physical. He was a good player, a big, strong, stocky kid."
