Bobcats Ranked Third by HERO Sports in FCS Preseason Poll

No. 3 is MSU's highest preseason ranking since 2013
BOZEMAN, Montana - Montana State landed third in the HERO Sports FCS Preseason Top 25 on Wednesday, the school's highest preseason ranking since beginning 2013 No. 2, and the Cats find familiar company at the top of the poll.
MSU played four of the top seven teams a season ago, beating seventh-ranked Sam Houston and No. 2 South Dakota State in the FCS Playoffs on the way to the school's first appearance in the National Championship game since 1984. MSU dropped that title tilt to preseason No. 1 North Dakota State and fell in the regular season finale at Montana, ranked fourth. The Cats also beat Eastern Washington (18) and UT Martin (14).
Montana State and UM are two of the five nationally ranked Big Sky teams. MSU also faces No. 18 Eastern Washington (September 24 in Cheney), No. T25 UC Davis (October 1 in Bozeman) and UM (November 19 in Bozeman). Weber State also received votes, and the Cats host WSU on October 22. Reigning Big Sky Champion Sacramento State is ranked 10th.
