Seger Captures 2022 RMISA Invitational Giant Slalom Title

Montana State junior Riley Seger won the men’s giant slalom title at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Park City, Utah.
Montana State junior Riley Seger won the men's giant slalom title at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Invitational on Sunday afternoon in Park City, Utah.
The RMISA Invitational is a unique event run at three different locations. The slalom portion of the invitational took place at Bridger Bowl, Mont. on Jan. 20. The Nordic events will be held in Fairbanks, Alaska the first week of February.
Seger, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia posted a two-run clocking of 1:55.51, edging out Utah's Joachim Lein, who finished in 1:56.37. Seger recorded the fastest opening run in 57.56, while notching 57.86 in the second race.
Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Isak Staurset, 15th, 1:58.35, and Dawson Yates, 19th, 1:58.65. Zak Vinter, 28th, 2:01.50 was the only other MSU skier to finish the race as Jamie Casselman did not complete the opening run, while Henry Heaydon went out in the second race.
The MSU women were paced by Nellie Talbot, who placed fourth in 1:59.28. The junior from Vail, Colo. had a consistent performance with the fifth fastest opening run and the second quickest second race.
Denver's Katie Hensien won the event in 1:58.97.
Brynne Hitchcock, 19th, 2:04.51, and Ylva Falksete, 20th, 2:04.56 also recorded points for MSU. Tegan Wold finished 21st in 2:04.72, while Kristiane Bekkestad did not finish her first race.
After the alpine events, Utah leads the RMISA Invitational with 333 points. The Utes are followed by DU 307, Westminster 299, MSU 288, Colorado 214, Colorado Mountain 181, and Alaska Anchorage 139.
