Quartet of Bobcats won't be available today
BOZEMAN, Montana - September 11, 2021 - That warm, early-autumn evening on the plains of Iowa was nearly a decade ago, but for the Flynn family of Bettendorff, Iowa, it probably doesn't seem that way.
JP Flynn, who would wrap up an All-America career as one of MSU's all-time great offensive linemen in 2016, was a redshirt freshman that night. His brother Steve was a Bobcat intern, one year removed from playing for Drake. Rob Ash, now MSU's all-time winningest head football coach, recruited the older Flynn to Drake but departed for Bozeman before he could suit up. He didn't miss the chance to coach JP.
JP Flynn is now an assistant coach for the Gallatin High Raptors in Bozeman, while Steve is Drake's offensive line coach.

Speaking of Ash, not only his his 70 wins the most in MSU history, but his 125 is the most in Drake history.

The Bobcats remain without the services of a small handful of players for tonight's Gold Rush game. Nickel back Tyrel Thomas, defensive tackle Kyle Rygg, running back Lane Sumner, and receiver Nate Stewart will all miss tonight's game.
