MSU stages its first practice of Fall 2021 on Friday morning
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State officially begins preparation for the 2021 football season Friday, when Brent Vigen presides over his first preseason practice as Montana State's head coach.
Vigen welcomes eight returning starters on offense and five on defense among the team's 38 returning letterwinners from the 2019 season. Among them, preseason All-America linebacker Troy Andersen anchors the Bobcat defense while a veteran offensive line led by preseason all-conference choice Taylor Tuiasosopo and third-year starter Lewis Kidd lead the offense. Quarterbacks Tucker Rovig and Casey Bauman each started games for the Cats two years ago, while Matt McKay started games at North Carolina State.
Vigen said that the change of coaching staffs in February "restarted everything. Whether it was Tucker or Casey, who each started games (at MSU), or Matt, who transferred but hadn't played in 2020, I think everyone is starting from zero."
That lays the groundwork for the entire program, which hasn't played a game in over 500 days. It begins on Friday morning, when practice begins at 9:30 am. Vigen indicated that practices are closed to the general public.
