A look at the No. 67 in Bobcat football history
Bobcats by the Numbers takes a look at current and past Bobcats whose jersey numbers correspond to the number of days remaining before Montana State opens the 2021 football season at Wyoming on September 4.
#67
Joe McElroy, OL: One of a stable of talented young offensive line prospects, Joe McElroy enters the season as Montana State's backup right guard but he could figure more prominently in the plans. Still, he has experience at tackle and with as a veteran will be in the mix for playing time and could be strong in a utility role.
Spotlight – Alan Wilson: Few have worn #67 for the Cats to greater effect than Alan Wilson. A Second Team All-Big Sky choice as a senior from British Columbia, Wilson went on to a legendary career in the CFL. He was All-Western Conference and Canadian All-Star seven times, and was named the Schenley Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman in 1977. He played in two Grey Cup games, and was a key member of the BC Lions' 1985 championship team. Wilson is a CFL and Bobcat Hall of Famer.
Bonus – Darrell Hueth: A multi-sport star from Glasgow when the Scotties produced brilliant teams and athletes year after year, Darrell Hueth was an excellent and versatile player on some of the greatest Bobcat teams in history. He played both guard and tackle as a freshman in 1955, then contributed at center in 1956. Hueth joined the starting lineup as a tackle in 1957 and never really left, although he also helped at guard as a junior and senior. He was a captain in 1958, when he wore #67.
