MIDWAY, Utah – The Montana State ski team sits in third place with only the men's and women's Nordic freestyle events remaining at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships, after the Bobcat posted 110 points in classical on Friday afternoon at Soldier Hollow.
MSU's top performance came from newcomer Sophia Mazzoni. Mazzoni, a freshman from Hailey, Idaho placed 11th overall, covering the 5-kilometer course in 16:45.2. Also scoring points were Adrianna Proffitt, 13th, 17:00.1, and Emma Albrecht, 19th, 17:21.0. Aubrey Leclair was 21st in 17:50.4.
Utah's Sydney Palmer-Leger won the women's title in 15:25.8.
The Bobcat men were paced by Eli Jensen. The senior from Boise, Idaho finished 12th overall, recording a 10K clocking of 26:27.6. Also scoring points were Reed Godfrey, 19th, 27:07.9, and Ti Donaldson, 20th, 27:12.2. Ty Godfrey placed, 21st, 27:24.9, while Eli Hermanson was 26th in 28:17.2.
Magnus Boee capture the men's classical championship in 25:05.6.
Utah leads the team standings with 483 points, followed by Colorado 434, MSU 415, Denver 347, Alaska Anchorage 340, Westminster 320, Colorado Mountain 146, Alaska Fairbanks 139, and Wyoming 69.
Montana State's best finish at the RMISA Championships came in 2018 when the Bobcats racked-up 558 points to finish third behind Denver (710.5) and Colorado (619).
