Bobcat Skiers Finish Second at RMISA Invitational at Utah

In the whacky world of collegiate athletics during the coronavirus pandemic, it took one month and one day to complete the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Invitational at Utah with the second men’s giant slalom event this morning.
In the whacky world of collegiate athletics during the coronavirus pandemic, it took one month and one day to complete the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Invitational at Utah with the second men's giant slalom event this morning.
The RMISA Championships begin this afternoon with the slalom races, also held at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah. The RMISA Championship giant slalom will be held on Friday, with the Nordic events taking place Feb. 26-27.
The first giant slalom event of the RMISA Invitational at Utah was held Feb. 12, but ski conditions worsened throughout the day to the point it was deemed unsafe to complete the second race.
Åge Solheim guided the Montana State this morning placing seventh with a two-run clocking of 1:55.57. Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Riley Seger, ninth, 1:55.73, and Louis Mühlen-Schulte, 14th, 1:56.94. Mühlen-Schulte had a difficult first run but was able to post the fastest time in the second run notching a clocking of 57.17.
Also competing for MSU were Jamie Casselman, 17th, 1:57.26, Zak Vinter, 21st, 1:57.96, and Dawson Yates, 23rd, 1:58.06.
Denver's Tobias Kogler won the giant slalom event with a two-run total of 1:53.74.
Behind Solheim, Seger and Mühlen-Schulte the Bobcats tallied 64 points to hold on to second place with 537 points, and 146.5 points back of first-place Utah. Colorado finished third with 524.5 points, followed by Alaska Anchorage 516.5, Denver 440.5, Westminster 367, Alaska Fairbanks 218, and Colorado Mountain 122.
