Mühlen-Schulte Paces Three Bobcats in Top 10 at RMISA Invitational at Utah

Montana State junior Louis Mühlen-Schulte recorded his sixth career podium finish – a top 3 showing – placing third in men’s giant slalom at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Invitational at Utah on Friday afternoon at Park City Resort.

The second giant slalom event was postponed and barring an opportunity to get another race in before the RMISA Championships.
Mühlen-Schulte, a product of South Yarra, Australia, notched a two-run total of 2:00.98, finishing a second behind Denver's Tobias Kogler, who clocked 1:59.64. Mühlen-Schulte's opening run of 59.87 was the second fastest mark.
Also scoring points for the Bobcats were Åge Solheim, seventh, 2:01.33, and Riley Seger, ninth, 2:01.59. Seger, competing in just his third race of the season, recorded 1:00.77 in his second run- the fourth fastest of the heat.
The Bobcat trio recorded 81 points, finishing second to Westminster by one point in the event. The 81 points also lifted MSU into second place in the final team standings, finishing ½ point ahead of Alaska Anchorage.
Utah won the invitational with 590.5 points, followed by MSU 473, UAA 472.5, Colorado 453.5, Denver 369.5, Westminster 293, Alaska Fairbanks 218 and Colorado Mountain 85.
Also posting times for MSU on Friday were Dawson Yates, 16th, 2:04.58, Zak Vinter, 22nd, 2:05.02, and Jamie Casselman, 23rd, 2:05.52.
The Bobcat alpine squad will compete at the RMISA Championships Feb. 18-19 in Park City, Utah.
