The Montana State ski team sits in third place at the Denver Invitational as the alpine portion of the meet concluded on Monday afternoon with two men’s giant slalom races (four runs) at Aspen Highlands.

Junior Louis Mühlen-Schulte had a pair of top ten finishes. The native of South Yarra, Australia placed sixth in both races. Mühlen-Schulte had a two-run clocking of 2:07.61 in the opening event and went 2:05.44 in the final race. His 1:03.22 showing in the second run of the opening race was the second fastest recorded.
Junior Åge Solheim had MSU's top finish, placing fifth in the second giant slalom. The product of Staarheim, Norway posted a two-run total of 2:05.38, just .06-seconds ahead of Mühlen-Schulte. Solheim placed 16th in the first race with a time of 2:09.95.
Junior Zak Vinter finished as MSU's third point producer placing 16th in the second race in 2:07.36, and 17th in the opening event in 2:10.14.
Freshman Dawson Yates did not finish his second run of the opening contest but recorded an 18th place showing in the nightcap in 2:08.46.
Utah's Gustav Voello captured both giant slalom races in 2:05.51 and 2:03.38, respectively.
With the Nordic freestyle and classic races slated for Jan. 22-23, Westminster sits atop the team standings with 359 points, followed by Utah 307, MSU 281, Colorado 270, Alaska Anchorage 195, Colorado Mountain 121, and Denver 71.
