A look at Bobcat football on September 12 throughout history...
September 12
SPOTLIGHT: Cliff Hysell had been in Reno H. Sales Stadium before September 12, 1992, leading the Bobcats onto the field as his alma mater's head coach for the first time was certainly one of the great moments in a brilliant coaching career. And the way his team played in the 1992 home opener made the occasion even more special. An offense that struggled through the season's first six quarters sprung to life in the pivotal second half of a 13-6 win over Stephen F. Austin. Trailing 6-0 midway through the third quarter, Chad Mayer found Rob Tesch for a 63-yard touchdown pass that energized the crowd of 7,607. Tesch finished the day with 136 receiving yards and 217 all-purpose yards. The Bobcats controlled the ball for 13 of the game's final 19 minutes, and running back Jeremy Wicht scored during that keepaway session to seal the first of Hysell's 41 wins as Montana State's head coach.
