SPOTLIGHT: Montana State opened the 1974 season with a resounding road win, whipping Portland State 29-8 in beautiful Civic Stadium. The Bobcats marched 65 yards on their first possession, with Mike Dunbar completing a three-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-goal to open the scoring. Coming out of the intermission with a 10-0 lead, MSU exploded for 19 third-quarter points to seal the win. Bryan Flaig caught a pair of touchdown passes and Wayne Edwards rushed for 60 yards to lead MSU in front of a crowd of 3,432.
