SPOTLIGHT: Those looking for a little foreshadowing could have found it in the 1993 season opener. On a sultry September evening, Cliff Hysell's second Bobcat team outlasted talented Western Illinois 29-16 in Macomb. Fresh off of a 7-4 campaign in 1992, the Leathernecks were led by future NFL star Rodney Harrison. WIU, thought, was no match for the Bobcats' rejuvenated run game. Fred Moore rushed for 182 yards in his Bobcat debut and Montana State took the ball away four times without a turnover in the exhilarating victory. MSU's all-time interception record-holder Morgan Ryan picked off a WIU pass to thwart a scoring drive. That jump-started a 7-4 Bobcat campaign, MSU's most wins since the 1984 National Championship and tied for the most between then and 2006.
