BOBCAT CALENDAR: The Bobcats and Sac State Staged an Amazing Offensive Afternoon in 2010

SPOTLIGHT: It was an amazing, exhausting afternoon in Superior California. Montana State led 30-7 in the second quarter, trailed 61-53 with three minutes remaining, and ultimately beat Sacramento State 64-61 on a Jason Cunningham walkoff field goal in overtime.
Even beyond the MSU record for combined points (125), the numbers from that game are staggering. The teams combined for 52 first downs (25 for the Cats), 521 rushing yards (261 by MSU), 749 passing yards (385 by the Bobcats), and 1,270 total yards (646 by MSU). The game featured only five punts (three by the Bobcats), two turnovers (both interceptions thrown by the Hornets), and nine penalties (six by Sac State).
Sacramento State's Bryan Hilliard rushed for 194 yards, and his second of two touchdowns came with 6:44 to play and gave the Hornets a 53-47 lead. Hornets quarterback Jeff Fleming threw for 348 yards and five touchdowns, while Chase Deadder caught six passes for 148 yards.
Montana State's individual numbers also stand out. CJ Palmer rushed for 131 yards on a dozen carries, and Orenzo Davis added 95. Each found the end zone twice. DeNarius McGhee threw for 385 yards and four touchdowns, with Jumpin' Julius Lloyd the main beneficiary for McGhee's passing. The savvy senior caught eight balls for 177 yards and three touchdowns. The most important came with 77 seconds to play, and eight-yarder that (with the PAT) tied the game.
Jason Cunningham's 25-yard field goal on the first possession of overtime gave the Bobcats since early in the fourth quarter, when they led 47-45. The big plays of the ensuing possession reads like a who's who of Bobcat defense. On first down, Josy Owens made a tackle-for-loss. Zach Minter forced a bad throw on second down, and Michael Rider broke up the third down pass attempt. Sac State's marvelous kicker Chris Diniz trotted onto the field looking to extend his streak of not missing a kick to that point of the 2010 season, but pulled it wide left and the Bobcats had rallied, then held on, for an amazing win.
