SPOTLIGHT: In Montana State's first-ever August game, the Bobcats opened Earle Solomonson's final season at MSU with a 30-14 win over Minnesota-Duluth on August 31, 1991. Joe Volek threw for 311 yards on 20-of-38 passing, while linebacker Todd Graves piled up 18 tackles to land Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week honors. Coupled with the team's season-opening win in 1990 at Idaho, the victory over UMD gave the Cats back-to-back season opening wins for the first time since the 1977 and 1978 seasons.
