2008 - Cody Kempt became MSU's third different opening day starter in as many seasons when Rob Ash named him the team's quarterback ahead of MSU's seasons opener against Adams State. The Portland area native threw for 1,108 yards that season and 2,575 in his three-season Bobcat career after transferring from Oregon. Kempt also returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach in 2014-15 before entering private business.
2002 - Senior running back Ryan Johnson was named to the Sports Network's Walter Payton Watch List. Johnson remains MSU's all-time rushing leader with 3,646 yards, including 1,092 as a senior. Johnson was the 2001 CoSIDA Academic All-America of the Year.
