Three in-state products helped provide leadership for the 2016 MSU football teams
August 21
2016 - Jeff Choate announced his first set of Bobcat captains, a group that included some of the finest players in Bobcat history. Linebacker Mac Bignell became a second generation Bobcat captain, following in the footsteps of his father Joe and also cousin Clay. He was joined by Running back Gunnar Brekke of Helena, linebacker Fletcher Collins from Seattle, offensive guard JP Flynn from Bettendorf, Iowa, safeties Khari Garcia (Pomona, California) and Bryson McCabe (Spirit Lake, Iowa), and running back Chad Newell from Billings.
2006 - Cory Carpenter earned the nod to start at quarterback for the Bobcats, the team's first full-time signal caller since Travis Lulay took over at the position in October, 2002. He had thrown only five passes to that point in his Bobcat career, but his debut was a doozy. MSU beat Colorado19-10 on September 2.
