1983 - Bobcat head coach Dave Arnold presided over a running backs competition that included senior Dale Halgren at fullback, and sophomore David Pandt and juniors Stephon Wilson and Junior Fulp. Pandt evenutally led the 1-10 Bobcats with 325 rushing yards.
1977 - There was no way of knowing it, but today in 1977 Sonny Holland opened his seventh and final fall camp as Montana State's football coach. In welcoming 72 players, Holland began the 1977 season as defending NCAA Division II National Champions, and began the program's final season as a Division II program. One year hence the Bobcats would help begin Division I-AA, when the entire Big Sky Conference moved football into Division I.
