Freshman Zanden McMullen finished fifth in the men’s 10-km freestyle to pace the Montana State Nordic team at the 2020 Aspen RMISA Qualifier on Saturday afternoon at the Aspen Valley Ski Club.
ASPEN, Colo. – Freshman Zanden McMullen finished fifth in the men's 10-km freestyle to pace the Montana State Nordic team at the 2020 Aspen RMISA Qualifier on Saturday afternoon at the Aspen Valley Ski Club.
The product of Anchorage, Alaska covered the course in 30:03.5. Denver's Bernhard Flaschberger won the event in 28:48.3.
Other finishers for MSU included Ti Donaldson, eighth, 30:08.9, Eli Jensen, 15th, 31:24.2, Reed Godfrey, 22nd, 32:12.8, and Eli Hermanson, 24th, 32:41.0. Donaldson's top ten finish was his first of the season.
The Bobcat women were led by Aubrey Leclair, who finished ninth overall covering the 5-km women's course in 17:19.9. She was followed by Anna Fake, 11th, 17:23.3, Emma Tarbath, 17th, 18:05.8, Kat O'Connell, 20th, 18:36.6, and Matilda Joensson, 21st, 18:51.0.
Utah's Leah Lange won the women's freestyle event in 15:59.9.
Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association qualifiers do not count towards any team scoring and are used as an extra opportunity for skiers to earn qualification points for the NCAA Championships at the end of the season, which will be hosted by Montana State.
A Nordic 21km classic RMISA qualifier will take place on Sunday on the Owl Creek Trail in Aspen.
